HOCHSÖLDEN
Hochsölden in the Ötz Valley – 2,090 metres above sea level.
A handful of hotels, a small chapel, a ski hut, two sports shops and a ski school: There is no more to Hochsölden than this, and yet it is so much more than just this. You won’t find a better place than Hochsölden for an uncompromising skiing holiday. Just step outside the door and you are already in the Sölden/Hochsölden ski resort. 150 kilometres of pistes, skiing on three mountains which are all over 3,000m, 2 glaciers and many other highlights – from the funpark to spectacular runs with descents of up to 2,000 metres altitude difference await you here in Sölden and Hochsölden. Here there really is something for everyone, whether beginner or advanced.
Everything you need is available in Hochsölden: whilst Hochsölden is only a small village, it is perfectly geared towards the needs of its guests who seek both skiing fun and pure relaxation. The ski school and sports shops are all within walking distance of Hotel Alpenfriede on the ski slopes. Another advantage: Action in the day, peace and quiet at night. You won’t find wild parties and après ski up here. Hochsölden consciously shuts itself off from all this hustle and bustle as it is a place for passionate skiers and snowboarders who are simultaneously seeking relaxation and an undisturbed idyll. This means every skier and snowboarder has guaranteed peace and quiet in the hotel and can start the next day well rested. If you do fancy a party and a bit of après ski, there’s plenty to be found in the village of Sölden.
HIKING TRAIL
An idyllic circular winter hiking trail starts in Hochsölden and leads past an unspoilt landscape in the direction of Gampe Thaya via a mountain path and back to Hochsölden again along the summer downhill track. Naturally we offer regular guided snowshoe hikes – just ask at reception – a winter experience not to be missed!
ICEQ MOUNTAIN RESTAURANT
Unique: the modern architecture with local materials, top cuisine and a direct suspension bridge to the summit. In conjunction with the Gaislachkogl lift, the new culinary meeting point at the summit is a multifunctional and completely barrier-free gourmet experience at 3,048 metres!
The Ice Q on the Gaislachkogel is a special upscale restaurant with “alpine cuisine”, viniculture, 94 seats inside, terrace seating for 34 and a rooftop sun terrace.
The design was masterminded – just like the design for the three cable car stations – by the renowned Tyrolean Obermoser architectural office. The glass façade opens up new perspectives of the primeval Ötz Valley mountain landscape and makes the building light and transparent – and turns the Gaislachkogl and the mountain station of the 3S triple rope gondola into probably the most architecturally impressive ski summit in Tyrol. IDEas
Nobody is perfect – and we are not either; so it could happen, that despite our best efforts we have forgotten something. That is why we always welcome your constructive suggestions on what we could do even better.
IGNAZ
Take a bit of Alpenfriede back home with you! Our Ignaz now completes our delectation on the bottle label – you ‘drink’ with your eyes too. But the man of the house is not only to be found on our red and white house wine. You can also purchase placemats, water jugs, tea towels, oven gloves etc. We have a small selection of special and delightful souvenirs to take home. All items are available from reception, while stocks last.
INTERNET
We have free Wi-Fi in our hotel. All you need to connect to the internet is your own device.
Choose the network Alpenfriede. If you are not automatically connected, enter it in the search bar at www.google.at. You will be asked to accept the terms and conditions on the following page. Then you will be redirected to our hotel’s homepage. Now you can work and surf the internet as you please.
We would like to point out that the strongest signal can be obtained at reception. It is therefore best to work in the foyer. The signal strength in the rooms depends on the number of people using the internet at the same time and unfortunately, occasionally also on the weather. Particularly at peak times between 4pm and 8pm, there can be limited internet reception in the whole of Hochsölden.
Have fun surfing.

The ascent in one of the world's most modern gondolas to the summit of the Gaislachkogl at 3,048m gets you tingling with suspense. The scenery will be very familiar to Bond fans. Inside the mountain, 007 ELEMENTS treats you to a brilliant overall experience. (Source: www.oetztal.com/presse)

SNOW GUARANTEED
Glaciers, three thousand metre peaks and over half a year’s skiing fun.
In a place where the snow does not even melt in the summer, you certainly don’t need to worry about the winter. The two glaciers above Sölden already indicate that you can expect the best conditions all through the winter. You can ski in Sölden for more than half the year. The two glaciers – Rettenbach and Tiefenbachferner – open as early as October and can be skied right through until May. A short while later the whole ski resort follows suit and thus there is nothing to prevent you skiing right from the door of Hotel Alpenfriede. The two glaciers cover 20km2 in the ski resort. The two glaciers are linked by the highest road tunnel in Europe, as well as by a ski tunnel at 3,240 metres. 10 lifts give access to 37 kilometres of pistes.
Moreover, the season’s opener to the Ski World Cup takes place here on the Rettenbach glacier every year. Even if the snow doesn’t fall, there is snow: Just like everywhere else, even Sölden has a little extra help sometimes. It may be far rarer – the altitude itself at up to over 3,000 metres ensures there is snow – but it is all the more professional for that: With 3 reservoirs and over 300 snow canons, the cold turns water and air into snow, to ensure your winter sports fun.
SNOW CHAINS
Snow chains and winter tyres are indispensable for your journey to Hochsölden in winter. If it snows, snow chains are mandatory on the Hochsölden road. Make sure therefore, that you have put on your winter tyres and that you carry snow chains.
The correct use of snow chains
Never put on snow chains before? Or you’re not sure which snow chains to buy? The Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle and Touring Club ÖAMTC has information for you about the proper use of snow chains.
Important information about using snow chains
Snow chains are NO REPLACEMENT for winter tyres. On icy roads in particular, winter tyres deliver better results; snow chains do not grip well on ice.
Test your snow chains before using them for real on the road.
Please note that fitting them is harder in severe weather conditions.
Check the fir of your snow chains with the dimensions of your winter tyres.
Always check the chain tension. Snow chains which are fitted too loosely (including quick mount systems) can damage brake hoses or ABS sensors.
SUper ski pass and LIFT PASS
Naturally you have the convenience of buying your lift passes in Hochsölden. You can buy your entrance tickets to the Sölden ski world at the Rotkogel lift ticket office, at the end of the first run. Conveniently, you can pay in cash or with a credit or debit card.
The new Ötz Valley Super Skipass combines 356 kilometres of pistes, 90 lifts and six ski resorts in one pass. For 3-day passes or longer, winter sports enthusiasts can choose between well-known destinations such as Sölden and Obergurgl/Hochgurgl as well as particularly family-friendly resorts like Hochoetz-Kühtai and three other ski resorts (Niederthai, Gries and Vent) in the Ötz Valley.
After the successful premiere of a Sölden and Obergurgl/Hochgurgl combi ticket, the ticket network reached its final evolution stage for the 2018/2019 winter season. When purchasing a 3-day lift pass, guests can compile their own individual menu of pistes in Tyrol’s longest side valley. The valley-wide lift pass is valid in the resorts of Sölden, Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, Hochoetz-Kühtai, Niederthai, Gries and Vent. (Source: www.oetztal.com/presse)

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
You can’t imagine how many tonnes of towels are washed unnecessarily in hotels all over the world and what huge quantities of detergent therefore pollute our precious water. Towels on the towel rail means: I will use them again!
